another week down
a few more jobs applied for
i’ve two applications waiting for letters of reference to send
i need to make an appointment for a typing test
hard to type with my fingers crossed
need to clip off these artificial nails first

i suppose no news is good news
but
i’d sure like to hear something back from the jobs i’ve applied for

my daughters are aware however
we may end up in a one-bedroom apartment
for now
until our feet are back in cali
and i can look harder for something that will pay the bills a bit more
they are perfectly okay with that plan

my youngest was stung by a wasp last weekend
the pain sent her to tears
she’s not a “crier”
so
that tells of the hurt

about 20 minutes later
we were all laughing a bit
recounting the numerous bites/injuries i’ve had in the last year
a red ant bite, a wasp sting, a spider bite, a broken thumb, a rashy wedding ring finger
it’s been quite a year
and if nothing else
the year has answered a lot of questions for me
a few bridges burned completely to the ground

i’m okay though
hopeful
ready
kind of like spring i suppose
the seeds
ready to bloom
waiting
just below the surface

i walked outside yesterday morning
and was greeted
by a beautiful orange poppy
just one
blooming just on the brink of the backyard
almost shining in the morning sun
my youngest thinks it’s a sign
cali is calling us
home
