it may have been a mistake
taking two courses with the same instructor
turns out, she’s a fan of homework
i’m a bit overwhelmed at the number of assignments
but
i’m making it through

yesterday
i was feeling pretty damn old
and then i came home to an advertisement for a magazine in my mailbox with a huge tagline on the front
“act your age”
is it a sign?
or what?

i was late to work this week
the reason?
i was waiting for some songs to download on my phone
i may need a 12-step program for my music addiction
or a raise to help pay for my habit

i’m starting to wonder if i’ll ever go on a date
just sayin’

i’m enjoying the exercise class i’ve been taking twice a week at work
found some videos online to support my enjoyment on the days when class isn’t in session
here’s hoping i’ll lose some weight
no promises
just hopes

i saw a little girl at the store the other day
just outside the garden center
a man walking beside her
father, stepfather, uncle, much older brother… whatever
he was yelling and cussing at her
and she was walking as fast as her little legs would carry her
and my heart just broke
i just wished for her that she could start running and never stop until she was away from him
i’m sure she was wishing the same thing

i bought a fake christmas tree last year
i’m so excited to set it up in my new house
excited for the holidays in general
would love to find a handsome man to kiss under the mistletoe
or to kiss at the countdown to a new year
i’ma cross my fingers…
